Plugless Power is an innovation 100 years in the making

Plugless Power uses a variation of induction power transfer, an electrical principle that has been in use for over 100 years as the basis for today’s electrical transformer.

The basic inductive system has been innovated by Plugless Power engineers to allow for efficient power transfer at increasing gaps – to allow for highly efficient wireless charging across the air gap between the parking pad and the vehicle adapter. Using modified frequency and resonant tuning techniques combined with new core designs, Plugless Power engineers were able to extend the range of efficient transfer of power.

The wireless system automatically begins charging based on the vehicle’s requirements, which are communicated to the charging station over a wireless interface that mimics the corded SAE J1772 standard.

To use the system, the user must have an electric vehicle equipped with a small vehicle adapter that is mounted on the undercarriage of the EV and is wired directly into the vehicle’s existing on-board battery charger.
