What are the steps for normal operation of the Plugless System?

Drive up and look for the scrolling alignment guides.
Do not approach the Parking Pad until you see the scrolling alignment guides.
Pull forward following the alignment guides until you see the green circle.
If your alignment is off or you go too far, the right, left, or back arrow will illuminate to indicate in which direction to reposition the vehicle.
The scrolling alignment guides will slow as you get closer to optimal alignment.
Stop the vehicle when you see the green circle. The green circle indicates the vehicle and Parking Pad are in satisfactory alignment.
Engage the parking brake.
Turn off the vehicle and remove foot from brake pedal.
After a few seconds the blue circle will begin pulsing to indicate that the vehicle is charging. The vehicle should also indicate that it is charging.
If charge timers are set, the vehicle will show appropriate feedback. The Control Panel will indicate it is connected to the car but not charging with a pulsing green circle. When the set time is reached, the system will show the pulsing blue circle.
Press the brake pedal to stop charging. The green ring will appear.
If the brake pedal is pressed at any time during charging, charging stops and will not restart unless the ignition is cycled back on and off again.
To restart charging turn the vehicle on and back off and remove foot from brake.
If you would like to use the timed charging for the Leaf, you must set a start and end time for the system to work.

What do the symbols on my Control Panel mean?

Icon Chart

My car won’t charge and my display is showing a red diamond with a number…

The red diamond indicates an error in the system and the number is the specific error code. Listed in the User Manual are each of the codes and the action you should take for each. In general, there are four things a customer can do to cure any error code: (1) Clear any foreign debris from the Parking Pad, (2) Reset the System by pressing the button on the right side of the Control Panel or flipping the Circuit Breaker on the left side of the Control Panel, (3) Move the vehicle from on top of the Parking Pad, and (4) Allow the System to cycle through its 30 second refresh process.

The “P” on my Control Panel does not illuminate…

Check circuit breakers to ensure power is on. The circuit breaker switch is located behind the rubber cover labeled with a power symbol on the left side of the Control Panel.

The green circle around the “P” does not illuminate during alignment…

Verify that the Parking Pad is in the correct location. Ensure that you are aligning the vehicle as directed by the arrow guidance on the front of the Control Panel during arrival.

I am not seeing the alignment guidance as I am approaching…

Flip the circuit breaker off and then on again to cycle the system’s power. The circuit breaker switch is located behind the rubber cover labeled with a power symbol on the left side of the Control Panel. If problem persists, call tech support at 800-799-8290.

The Control Panel shows a flashing red diamond….

Back the car up to ensure it is not over the Parking Pad and remove any objects on the top of or near the Parking Pad. Verify that the Parking Pad is in the correct location. Wait for approximately one minute for the system to automatically restart, and try again. If problem persists, call tech support at 800-799-8290.

My car stops charging before the battery is fully charged…

Back the car up to ensure it is not over the Parking Pad and remove any objects on the top of or near the Parking Pad. Ensure that you are aligning the vehicle as directed by the arrow guidance on the front of the Control Panel during arrival. If problem persists, call tech support 800-799-8290.

It is taking longer for my car to charge than expected…

In extremely hot climates where temperatures may reach above 120° F, the System may run at a slightly lower power in order to protect the System’s life and reliability.

I have a 2011 Volt, and my horn alarm keeps going off….

The car horn alarm is a security feature built specifically into the design of the 2011 model of the Volt to alert the driver as to when the cord is physically unplugged from the vehicle. This feature was changed and removed in later models. The quick solution to avoiding this built in horn feature going off when the PLUGLESS system is finished charging, is to unlock the car doors during charging. If this is not option for you, your local dealer can turn the feature off permanently.
