Tom Hough, Co-Founder and CEO
Tom Hough is the co-founder and CEO of Evatran, LLC, a clean technology subsidiary of MTC Transformers. Founded in 1985 by two transformer engineers in Wytheville, Virginia, MTC Transformers was acquired in 1998 by Mr. Hough. Mr. Hough and his management team have grown the company into a world-class supplier of transformers and associated services, with an average growth rate of 28% per year since 1998. Prior to MTC, Mr. Hough was the vice president / general manager of electrical equipment for Tampa Armature Works.
Mr. Hough began his career in 1973 with General Electric, where he worked for 16 years in industrial electrical equipment sales and service. Mr. Hough graduated with a BSIE from Purdue University and earned his MBA from West Virginia COGS. He resides with his family in Wytheville.
Vincenzo I. Paparo, Co-Founder and Director of Engineering
Vince Paparo, co-founder and director of engineering for Evatran, LLC, has developed engineering systems and design standards for MTC Transformers since 1999. Mr. Paparo, serving as vice president of engineering for MTC Transformers for 8 years, contributed to the company’s average annual growth of 28% for the past decade.
Mr. Paparo began his engineering career at Rapid Power Technologies in 1978. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Haven in 1971. An avid conservationist, Mr. Paparo and his wife built a handcrafted log cabin situated near Jefferson National Forest.
Brent Dicker, Co-Founder and Director of Finance
Brent Dicker, co-founder and director of finance of Evatran, LLC, has over 30 years of experience in business management, operations, market research, personnel, and project management. Mr. Dicker joined MTC Transformers in 2004 as a financial analyst and has served as the company’s finance manager since 2005. Prior to Evatran and MTC Transformers, Mr. Dicker was a business management and technology consultant working with clients ranging from technology startups to multi-nationals and quasi-governmental agencies.
During his career, Mr. Dicker has traveled from the U.S. to South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. He has consulted for companies and organizations in a dozen industries, including agriculture, automotive manufacturing, banking, business electronics, construction engineering, electrical manufacturing, and telecommunications. Mr. Dicker began his career as an intelligence analyst in the U.S. Navy in 1977, where he served until 1987, receiving personal awards from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He lives with his wife and children in Wytheville.
Robert M. Atkins, Co-Founder and Director of Manufacturing
Robert Atkins is co-founder and director of manufacturing for Evatran, LLC. Mr. Atkins, who joined MTC Transformers in 2006, has over 37 years of experience in all phases of automotive assembly, manufacturing, and design. Prior to joining MTC Transformers, Mr. Atkins led the start-up of Workhorse Custom Chassis and Autocar, two specialty truck companies. Several of his achievements include reinvigorating the AUTOCAR brand, thereby increasing market share by 25 percent; and launching a new product for Workhorse Custom Chassis, resulting in a market share increase from 33 to 62 percent. Mr. Atkins’ efforts at Workshorse produced $370M annual revenue in two years, giving the company market leadership.
Mr. Atkins launched his career as a plant engineer and manager for General Motors, where he worked until 1998. During his tenure at GM, Mr. Atkins acquired deep experience directing most aspects of automotive manufacturing, including production, facility engineering, tooling, process improvement, material handling, quality control, customer satisfaction, labor relations, and human resources management. Mr. Atkins earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University and an MBA from the University of Delaware. He resides in Wytheville.
Rebecca Hough, Co-Founder and Director of Sales and Marketing
Rebecca Hough is the co-founder and director of sales and marketing for Evatran, LLC. Prior to joining Evatran, Ms. Hough was a management consultant with Kurt Salmon Associates, consulting on projects in the retail and consumer products sectors. Graduating from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, Ms. Hough earned a B.S. in Commerce with concentrations in Finance and Management. Recognizing Rebecca’s expertise in business strategy, she was asked to spearhead marketing strategy and sales for Evatran, a new subsidiary of MTC Transformers.
Since 2008, Ms. Hough has taken the lead on project management, strategic alliances, marketing, social media strategy, and stakeholder relations for Evatran. Ms. Hough resides and works in New York, commuting to Wytheville on a regular basis. She frequently attends meetings and conferences related to electric-vehicles and EV-infrastructure in the U.S. and abroad.
